What are the symptoms of Mesothelioma?














The signs and symptoms of mesothelioma depend upon the location of mesothelioma. In 90-95% of the cases, the symptoms of mesothelioma start appearing after 35-50 years of exposure to asbestos, the culprit of mesothelioma.

Symptoms of pleural mesothelioma-
In this, the pain is felt in the chest region and shortness of breath occurs. The pain is felt in the chest due to fluid accumulation in pleura. These symptoms should not be overlooked as pleural mesothelioma is the most commonly found mesothelioma.

Symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma-
In peritoneal mesothelioma, there is a fluid accumulation in the abdomen region leading to abdominal swelling and pain both. Weight is also considerably lowered during peritoneal mesothelioma. There are some other symptoms of mesothelioma like, fever, bowel obstruction, anemia and blood clotting abnormalities.

In case the cancer spreads to other parts of the body, the symptoms include swelling of face or neck, trouble while swallowing food, pain etc. Whenever such symptoms are observed it is very necessary to discuss with doctor about them. Only a doctor can give correct opinion and diagnosis.
