Type of Mesothelioma





















There are five identified type of mesothelioma. Out of five types, the four listed below are cancerous in nature, hence are malignant cancers; and remaining one is non- cancerous in nature, hence benign mesothelioma.

Pleural Mesothelioma: It develops in the pleura (lining of lungs), thus known as Pleural Mesothelioma. About 70% of mesothelioma cases are pleural in origin. Hence, this is most widespread form of malignant mesothelioma.

Peritoneal Mesothelioma: This type of mesothelioma forms in the peritomeum (lining of abdominal cavity), thus known as Peritoneal Mesothelioma. About 25% of mesothelioma cases are peritoneal in origin.

Pericardial Mesothelioma: This type of mesothelioma forms in the pericardium (lining of the heart), thus known as Pericardial Mesothelioma. About 5% of all mesothelioma cases are pericardial in origin.

Testicular Mesothelioma: This type of mesothelioma forms in the tunica vaginalis protion of testicles. This is the most rarest type of mesothelioma cancer.

Benign Mesothelioma- This is non cancerous in nature and can be completely treated in most of the patients. This mesothelioma develpos in the pleura (lining of lungs. Benign mesothelioma is not life threatening in nature.
